NCTE day 4 Sunday CLA Breakfast with our featured speaker @tracisorellauthor - the event we worked on all year - sold out! Thank you to my co-chair Jackie Arnold, and incoming co-chairs Jeanne Fain and Susan Polos for all you did to make it a success. Thank you to the publishers who supported Traci (Kokila/Penguin and Charlesbridge) and to all the illustrators who donated their artwork for our auction. And thank you to the CLA Board who donated to the Native Creative Fund at WNDB and the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio (NAICCO). Afterwards, I was fortunate to spend some quality time with Dawn and Traci 📚❤️ a perfect way to end the conference. NCTE day 3 part 2 Saturday. Congratulations to all the winners! I sat with @patty_cisneros_prevo_ply_ and listen to @georgiaheard1 and @nanaekuawriter so many inspiring authors and teacher educators during the luncheon. Afterwards, I popped in to hear @emma.otheguy and @kelstarly talk about chapter books. I wish every English teacher could attend NCTE. I can see and hear the enthusiasm of teachers. They’ll bring back enthusiasm and creative ideas to the classroom. Their students are lucky to have them! #kidlit #authorssupportingauthors #authorcommunity #teachereducators #ncte2023

Day 3 NCTE Connecting with as many writing friends

Day 3 NCTE Connecting with as many writing friends as possible is my goal. Friendship and community is important to me. This morning, I also met illustrator Janelle Washington (no pic, it rained, we were scrambling to find a place to eat and talk) - such a lovely person 💕☕️🥐 And I spent time with a long time friend @kanstadt (also no pic!) as much as possible. It fills my heart to be able to be in the presence of incredible teachers, educators, and authors who are trying to make a difference in the world.
